Dental implants in Turkey: replace a tooth permanently and durably
Principle, candidates, bone grafts, brands, the two-stay process, care, risks and price: everything you need to know before dental implants in Turkey.

What is a dental implant in Turkey?
A tooth that is lost, broken or too damaged to be saved: a dental implant replaces it with an artificial titanium root, on which a crown is fixed. The result is fixed, natural-looking and does not affect the neighboring teeth.
Dental implant placement in Turkey is usually done over two stays. During the first, of 3 to 5 days, the implant is placed in the bone under local anesthesia. After 3 to 6 months of healing, while the bone fuses with the implant, a second stay of 5 to 7 days allows the final crown to be fitted. A bone graft may be needed if there is not enough bone. With TurquieMed, dental implants start from €400 per implant; the final price depends on the brand, abutment, crown and any bone graft.
TurquieMed organizes your stay: forwarding your file to the dentist, opinion and detailed quote within 48 hours, airport pick-up, transfers, hotel, interpreter and 7-day-a-week assistance.
To choose well, ask for the brand of the implants and a 3D scan before placement: it checks the amount of bone and positions the implant in the right place.
- Placing an implant
- 20 to 40 minutes, local anesthesia
- Healing

How much does a dental implant cost in Turkey?
The price depends on the number of implants, their brand (leading Swiss, Swedish, German or Korean brands are not priced the same), the abutment, the type of crown (zirconia, porcelain-fused-to-metal) and any bone graft. It is usually significantly lower than prices in Western Europe or North America.

Why have dental implants in Turkey?
A successful dental implant depends on good planning and quality materials. Turkish dental clinics have invested in 3D imaging and digital design, allowing precise treatment in a limited number of stays.
- Planning with a 3D scan. The cone beam scan measures the bone in three dimensions to place each implant correctly, away from nerves and sinuses.
- Implants from recognized brands. Clinics offer implants from international manufacturers, with the card and references for each implant given to the patient.
- Bone grafting on site. Bone grafts and sinus lifts are performed by implant specialists when bone is lacking, often during placement.
- An in-house dental laboratory. Crowns are designed and made on site, which shortens the second stay.
- Two well-organized stays. A first stay of 3 to 5 days for placement, then a second of 5 to 7 days, 3 to 6 months later, for the final teeth.
Who are dental implants for?
- adults missing one or more teeth;
- enough bone, or the possibility of a bone graft;
- healthy gums: gum disease must be treated first;
- well-controlled diabetes; smoking increases the risk of failure.
Some treatments, such as osteoporosis medication or radiotherapy of the head and neck, must be mentioned as they may rule out implants. If all the teeth in a jaw are missing, solutions such as All-on-4 or All-on-6 are often more suitable.
How is a dental implant placed?
Placing the implant
Under local anesthesia, the dentist opens the gum, prepares a site in the bone and screws in the implant. The gum is closed. A temporary tooth can be fitted if the missing tooth is visible.
Bone graft and sinus lift
If the bone is too thin, it is thickened with bone substitute, at the same time as placement or a few months before. At the back of the upper jaw, a sinus lift creates the bone height needed.
The crown
After 3 to 6 months, a digital impression is taken and the final zirconia or ceramic crown is custom-made and fixed onto the implant.
How does your treatment in Turkey work, step by step?
First stay: 3 to 5 days
- You send your panoramic X-ray. You receive a treatment plan and a quote.
- Day 1: examination and 3D scan, confirmation of the plan.
- Day 2: placement of the implants, and temporary teeth if needed.
- Days 3 to 5: check-up and return.
Second stay: 5 to 7 days, 3 to 6 months later
- Implant check and digital impression.
- Try-in of the crown.
- Fitting of the final crown, bite adjustment and return.
After placement, eat soft food and avoid smoking for a few days. After your return, a check-up with your dentist and a scale and polish every 6 months keep your teeth and implants healthy. Bring back the reports, X-rays and implant card.
What are the risks of dental implants?
Dental implants succeed in more than 95% of cases. After-effects are usually mild.
| Possible effect | Frequency | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Swelling, mild pain, bruising | Common | Disappear within a few days |
| Implant that does not fuse with the bone | Rare, more common in smokers | Removed and replaced after healing |
| Inflammation around the implant (peri-implantitis) | Possible in the long term | Prevented by good hygiene and regular check-ups |
| Tingling of the lip | Rare | The 3D scan helps avoid it |
How to choose your clinic and quote?
A low price is not enough. Ask the hospital these questions before committing:
- Is the hospital authorized by the Turkish Ministry of Health to treat international patients?
- Who will perform the implant placement, and how experienced are they with this technique?
- Which implant brands and materials are used, and will you receive their card and references?
- What guarantee is offered, and who handles adjustments and follow-up after your return?
- Who takes care of a complication, on site and after your return home?
- What dental follow-up is planned, and with whom?
What a good quote should specify
- The name of the hospital and the doctor
- The tests, anesthesia, hospital stay and medication included
- The number of nights in hospital and at the hotel, and the transfers
- What happens in case of complication or cancellation
- The follow-up offered after your return
Also budget for your flight and follow-up consultations. Planned treatment in Turkey is usually not covered by public health insurance: ask your insurer in writing before committing.
Take time to think, and be wary of any offer that pushes you to decide quickly.

Frequently asked questions about dental implants in Turkey
How much does a dental implant cost in Turkey?
With TurquieMed, dental implants start from €400 per implant, with VIP airport transfer, clinic transfers, consultation, interpreter and assistance 7 days a week. The final price depends on the implant brand, abutment, crown and any bone graft. It is usually significantly lower than prices in Western Europe or North America. The exact price appears on your free quote, which should detail each item.
Why are two stays needed?
The bone takes 3 to 6 months to fuse with the implant. Fitting the final crown before then risks implant failure. In some cases, a fixed temporary tooth can be fitted straight away: this is immediate loading.
Is implant placement painful?
No, it is done under local anesthesia. In the following days, discomfort and swelling are common, well relieved by simple painkillers and ice.
How long does an implant last?
If well cared for, an implant can last more than 15 years, often a lifetime. The crown may wear and be replaced. Hygiene, not smoking and regular check-ups are essential.
Which documents should I send to get an opinion?
Send a recent panoramic X-ray (less than 6 months old), photos of your teeth, your medical history (diabetes, osteoporosis, radiotherapy, smoking) and a list of your medication.
Are implants done in Turkey covered by insurance?
Dental implants are rarely covered by public health insurance, even at home. Some private dental insurers cover part of the cost: ask for a detailed quote and an itemized invoice for your insurer.
