Breast augmentation with implants in Turkey
Please note: this information is general and does not replace a surgeon’s advice. Cosmetic surgery is reserved for adults. Only a consultation can tell whether the procedure is right for you, and no result can be guaranteed.

What is breast augmentation with implants in Turkey?

Breasts you feel are too small, breasts that have lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss, or asymmetry between the two breasts: breast augmentation increases volume and balances the silhouette.

Breast augmentation in Turkey involves placing a silicone gel implant behind each breast, through a 4 to 5 cm incision, most often in the fold under the breast. The procedure lasts 1 to 2 hours under general anesthesia, with 1 night in hospital and a stay of 5 to 7 days in Turkey. The size, shape and position of the implants are chosen with the surgeon according to your body shape. The price depends mainly on the brand of implants and is set in a free quote.

TurquieMed organizes your stay: forwarding your file to the surgeon, opinion and detailed quote within 48 hours, airport pick-up, transfers, hotel, interpreter and 7-day-a-week assistance.

To choose well, ask for the brand and model of the implants: they must be certified for Europe (CE marking), and you should leave with their identification card.

How much do breast implants cost in Turkey?

The price depends mainly on the brand of implants, the technique and the length of stay. It is often offered as a package including the procedure, implants, hospital, hotel, transfers and surgical bra. For a comparable level of care, it is usually significantly lower than prices in Western Europe or North America.

Your free quote is prepared after your photos and file have been reviewed. It should specify the brand and model of the implants. Your flight is usually at your own expense.

Why have breast augmentation in Turkey?

Successful breast augmentation depends on the choice of implants and a technique suited to your body. Turkish plastic surgeons offer the leading international brands and take time over the consultation.

  • Implants certified for Europe. Clinics work with the major manufacturers of CE-certified implants, and give you the identification card for your implants.
  • Volume fittings at the consultation. You try different volumes in a bra, and some clinics offer a 3D simulation of the result.
  • A technique suited to your body. In front of or behind the muscle, an incision under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit: the surgeon chooses according to the thickness of your tissue.
  • A breast lift if needed. When the breasts sag, the surgeon can combine a lift with the implants in the same procedure.
  • A stay of 5 to 7 days. Procedure, one night in hospital, scar check and surgical bra provided before your return.
Why travel? A stay of 5 to 7 days is enough for breast augmentation, with leading-brand implants, an experienced surgeon and an all-inclusive package, at a much more affordable price than in Western Europe or North America.

Who are breast implants for?

  • women over 18 whose breasts have finished developing;
  • small breasts, or breasts that have lost volume after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss;
  • asymmetry between the two breasts;
  • good general health and a stable weight.

It is advisable to wait at least 6 months after you stop breastfeeding. If the breasts sag a lot, a breast lift can be combined with the implants. A recent mammogram or ultrasound is requested depending on your age and history.

Which implants and technique to choose?

Shape and volume

Round implants give more volume in the upper breast, anatomical (teardrop) implants a more natural result. The volume, usually between 250 and 400 cc, is chosen according to the width of your chest and the thickness of your skin. Today’s silicone gel is cohesive: it does not leak, even if the shell ruptures.

Implant position

The implant is placed in front of the pectoral muscle, behind it, or “dual plane”, partly behind the muscle. In slim women, placement behind the muscle makes the implant less visible.

The scar

The incision is most often made in the fold under the breast, sometimes around the areola or in the armpit. The scar fades over 12 to 18 months.

Smooth or textured implants

As a precaution, implants with a heavily textured (macrotextured) surface are no longer used in many countries. Prefer smooth or microtextured implants from recognized brands: ask the surgeon.

How does the procedure work in Turkey?

  1. You send your photos and file. You receive an opinion and a quote.
  2. Day 1: consultation and fittings. Measurements, volume fittings, choice of implants, blood test.
  3. Day 2: the procedure, then 1 night in hospital.
  4. Days 3 to 5: hotel and scar check.
  5. Days 5 to 7: final check-up and return, with your report and implant card.

After the procedure

The breasts feel tight and swollen for 2 to 3 weeks. Wear the surgical bra day and night for 4 to 6 weeks. Avoid raising your arms above your head and lifting weights for 3 weeks. Office work resumes after 1 week, sport after 6 weeks. Stop smoking at least 4 weeks before and after the procedure: smoking delays healing. For the flight home, wear compression stockings, drink plenty of water and get up regularly to prevent blood clots.

What are the risks of breast implants?

Breast augmentation is one of the most widely performed cosmetic procedures in the world, with a very high satisfaction rate. Implants are not made to last a lifetime: a replacement may be needed after 10 to 15 years or more.

Possible effectFrequencyGood to know
Pain, tightness, changed nipple sensitivityCommon at firstEase within a few weeks to a few months
Capsular contracture (hardening around the implant)UncommonMay require further surgery
Implant ruptureRare, increases over the yearsDetected by ultrasound or MRI, the implant is then replaced
Hematoma, infectionRareMonitored at check-ups

Regular follow-up is recommended, with a breast ultrasound about every 2 to 3 years. Mention your implants before any mammogram.

Contact the team without delay if a breast suddenly swells, or if you have a fever, redness or discharge from the scar.

How to choose your surgeon and quote?

A low price is not enough. Ask the hospital these questions before committing:

  • Is the hospital authorized by the Turkish Ministry of Health to treat international patients?
  • Who will perform the procedure, and how experienced are they with this technique?
  • Is the surgeon a qualified plastic surgeon, and can you see before-and-after photos of their own patients?
  • Does the procedure take place in a hospital with an anesthesia team and intensive care on site?
  • Which brand and model of implant is planned, and is it CE-certified?
  • Who takes care of a complication, on site and after your return home?
  • What medical follow-up is planned, and with whom?

What a good quote should specify

  • The name of the hospital and the doctor
  • The tests, anesthesia, hospital stay and medication included
  • The number of nights in hospital and at the hotel, and the transfers
  • What happens in case of complication or cancellation
  • The follow-up offered after your return

Also budget for your flight and follow-up consultations. Planned treatment in Turkey is usually not covered by public health insurance: ask your insurer in writing before committing.

Take time to think, and be wary of any offer that pushes you to decide quickly.

How much do breast implants cost in Turkey?

The price depends mainly on the brand of implants, the technique and the length of stay. It is often offered as a package with implants, hospital, hotel and transfers, and is usually significantly lower than prices in Western Europe or North America. The exact price appears on your free quote.

Do implants need to be replaced?

Not systematically, but they are not guaranteed for life: many last 10 to 15 years or more. They are replaced in case of rupture, capsular contracture or if you want to change the volume. An ultrasound every 2 to 3 years allows their condition to be monitored.

Will I be able to breastfeed with implants?

Most often, yes, especially with an incision in the fold under the breast and an implant placed behind the muscle. Talk to the surgeon if you are planning a pregnancy.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey?

Usually 5 to 7 days: consultation, procedure, 1 night in hospital, then a few days at the hotel until the final check-up.

How do I choose the right size?

The surgeon measures your chest and the thickness of your skin, then has you try volumes in a bra. Bring photos of results you like: they help the surgeon understand what you want.

Which photos should I send to get an opinion?

Send photos of your chest from the front, side and three-quarter view, standing, arms by your sides, along with your age, weight, height, bra size, medical history and current treatments.

Is breast augmentation covered by insurance?

Not when it is cosmetic. Breast implants are usually only covered for reconstruction after breast cancer or for certain malformations, such as an undeveloped breast. Planned treatment in Turkey is usually at your own expense. Ask your insurer in writing before committing.
