Please note: this information is general and does not replace a surgeon’s advice. Cosmetic surgery is reserved for adults. Only a consultation can tell whether the procedure is right for you, and no result can be guaranteed.

What is a BBL in Turkey?

A BBL, or “Brazilian Butt Lift”, shapes the buttocks with your own fat, without implants. At the same time it slims the waist, abdomen or back, creating the more defined silhouette many patients are looking for.

A BBL in Turkey combines liposuction of areas with excess fat (abdomen, flanks, back, thighs) and reinjection of this purified fat into the buttocks. The procedure lasts 3 to 4 hours under general anesthesia, with 1 night in hospital and a stay of 6 to 8 days in Turkey. About 60 to 80% of the injected fat is retained permanently. The price is set in a free quote.

TurquieMed organizes your stay: forwarding your file to the surgeon, opinion and detailed quote within 48 hours, airport pick-up, transfers, hotel, interpreter and 7-day-a-week assistance.

To choose well, the key point is the safety of the technique: fat must only be injected under the skin, never into the muscle, ideally under ultrasound guidance. Ask the surgeon.

How much does a BBL cost in Turkey?

The price depends on the number of liposuction areas, the technique used (standard liposuction, VASER) and the length of stay. It is often offered as a package including the procedure, hospital, hotel, transfers and compression garment. For a comparable level of care, it is usually significantly lower than prices in Western Europe or North America.

Your free quote is prepared after your photos and file have been reviewed. Your flight is usually at your own expense.

Why have a BBL in Turkey?

A BBL is a procedure where technique makes all the difference, both for the result and for safety. Turkish plastic surgeons who perform it regularly apply current safety rules and master body contouring.

  • Safe injection under the skin. Fat is injected only into the layer just under the skin, increasingly under ultrasound guidance, in line with international recommendations.
  • Work on the whole silhouette. Liposuction slims the waist, abdomen and back while the buttocks are shaped, for a harmonious result.
  • Carefully prepared fat. Filtering and washing the fat before reinjection improve cell survival and the durability of the volume.
  • A complete package. Procedure, hospital, compression garment, cushion, hotel and transfers are usually included, with drainage sessions depending on the program.
  • Follow-up throughout your stay. Regular check-ups until you leave, then remote follow-up by photos during recovery.
Why travel? A BBL requires a surgeon with extensive experience. In Turkey, you can find one quickly, in a package including the procedure, hospital, garment and hotel, at a much more affordable price, with a stay of 6 to 8 days.

Who is a BBL for?

  • healthy adults with a stable weight;
  • enough fat to harvest: a BMI that is too low does not allow a good result;
  • a BMI usually below 30 to 32, to limit risks;
  • non-smokers, or patients willing to stop for several weeks before and after.

If you do not have enough fat, buttock implants can be discussed. If you have a lot of weight to lose, it is better to lose weight first, for example with obesity treatment, and stabilize your weight.

How is a BBL performed?

1. Liposuction

Through small incisions a few millimeters long, the surgeon removes excess fat from the abdomen, flanks, back or thighs. This step also slims the waist.

2. Purifying the fat

The fat is filtered and washed to keep only living fat cells.

3. Injection into the buttocks

The fat is reinjected in small amounts, only into the layer under the skin, to add volume and shape. Injecting into the muscle is dangerous and must never be done.

How does your BBL in Turkey work, step by step?

  1. You send your photos and file. You receive an opinion and a quote.
  2. Day 1: arrival, consultation and blood test. The surgeon marks the areas to be treated.
  3. Day 2: the procedure, then 1 night in hospital.
  4. Days 3 to 6: hotel and care. Check-up, dressings, lymphatic drainage depending on the program.
  5. Days 6 to 8: final check-up and return, with your report and instructions.

After the procedure

Do not sit directly on your buttocks for 2 to 3 weeks: use a special cushion under your thighs, and sleep on your front or side. Wear the compression garment day and night for 4 to 6 weeks. Office work usually resumes after 2 weeks, sport after 6 weeks. Stop smoking at least 4 weeks before and after the procedure: smoking delays healing. For the flight home, wear compression stockings, drink plenty of water and get up regularly to prevent blood clots.

What are the risks of a BBL?

Performed according to current safety rules, by an experienced plastic surgeon, a BBL gives natural, lasting results. Most after-effects are temporary.

Possible effectFrequencyGood to know
Bruising, swelling, numb areasVery commonDisappear within a few weeks
Loss of some volumeCommon20 to 40% of the fat is absorbed in the first months; a touch-up is possible
Asymmetry, irregularitiesUncommonCorrected by a touch-up after 6 months
Infection, blood clotRarePrevented by care, the garment and early mobility
Contact the team or emergency services immediately if you have shortness of breath, chest pain, a swollen and painful calf, fever or spreading redness.

How to choose your surgeon and quote?

A low price is not enough. Ask the hospital these questions before committing:

  • Is the hospital authorized by the Turkish Ministry of Health to treat international patients?
  • Who will perform the procedure, and how experienced are they with this technique?
  • Is the surgeon a qualified plastic surgeon, and can you see before-and-after photos of their own patients?
  • Does the procedure take place in a hospital with an anesthesia team and intensive care on site?
  • Is the fat injected only under the skin, with ultrasound guidance?
  • Who takes care of a complication, on site and after your return home?
  • What medical follow-up is planned, and with whom?

What a good quote should specify

  • The name of the hospital and the doctor
  • The tests, anesthesia, hospital stay and medication included
  • The number of nights in hospital and at the hotel, and the transfers
  • What happens in case of complication or cancellation
  • The follow-up offered after your return

Also budget for your flight and follow-up consultations. Planned treatment in Turkey is usually not covered by public health insurance: ask your insurer in writing before committing.

Take time to think, and be wary of any offer that pushes you to decide quickly.

Frequently asked questions about BBL in Turkey

How much does a BBL cost in Turkey?

The price depends on the number of liposuction areas, the technique and the length of stay. It is often offered as a package with hospital, hotel, transfers and garment, and is usually significantly lower than prices in Western Europe or North America. The exact price appears on your free quote.

Is the result permanent?

Yes, for the fat that has “taken”: after 3 to 6 months, about 60 to 80% of the injected volume stays in place permanently. The remaining fat then changes with your weight: significant weight gain or loss alters the result.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey?

Usually 6 to 8 days: consultation, procedure, 1 night in hospital, then a few days at the hotel until the final check-up. Bring a cushion for the flight home, as you must not sit directly on your buttocks.

When will I see the final result?

Swelling goes down in 4 to 6 weeks, but the final result can be judged after 3 to 6 months, once the injected fat has stabilized.

Can I have a BBL if I am slim?

You need enough fat to harvest. If you are very slim, the possible volume is limited. The surgeon assesses this from your photos and at the consultation, and may suggest other solutions.

Which photos should I send to get an opinion?

Send photos from the front, back and side, in underwear, standing, in good light, along with your age, weight, height, medical history and current treatments.

Is a BBL covered by insurance?

No: a BBL is a purely cosmetic procedure, which is not covered by health insurance. Planned treatment in Turkey is usually at your own expense. Ask your insurer in writing before committing.
